So, last month I asked my kids,
"Do you want to live blissfully ignorant
or do you want to know the truth?"
I had them look up the words "bliss" and "ignorant"
and without hesitating,
they still chose the truth.
I made sure they were sure about that decision
and told them the truth about The Tooth Fairy.
They were not surprised and they wanted to know more truths.
So, I told them about The Easter Bunny.
After I told them about what Spring and Easter is all about
they were like,
wtf does that have to do with a bunny and hiding eggs?!?
After that truth, they wanted to know everything.
At first, I was hesitant
but, I wanted to make sure they heard it from me
before they read it on wikipedia
or worse,
they catch me red handed filling up their stocking with cheap toys.
Plus, I needed to tell them because
they were really really good this year
and I'm sick of covering for your ass!
because they totally deserve the Wii.
So, I told them about all the lies,
yes everything,
the elves, the reindeer, the north pole, and the dreaded naughty or nice list.
I told them the truth about your true identity.
To this day I don't regret telling them the truth.
In fact, they now know the true spirit Christmas.
Your lies taught them about receiving gifts rather than giving.
But, even with them knowing the truth,
I doubt that they will be enthused about the greeting cards they will be making for all our friends and family
especially since they know that I can't afford a Wii.
Don't worry they know that they should not reveal the secret to everyone they know.
They know that there are people out there that choose to live blissfully ignorant
and they also know how important it is to the economy.
But, hey if you want to give my kids a Wii
(plus 2 extra wiimotes)
then I will tell them I was just kidding.
and if you do decide to give them a Wii,
throw in a
Cintiq 12WX in my stocking as well...
I was good this year too.
Sincerely,
j²
