Celebrated the kids' bday during the 3 day weekend.
The best birthday party ever.
Actually,
it was the best because it was the first.
the other 8 did not count.
The other 8 parties were just
family and friends getting together
at chuck e cheese's or a park by the lake.
Here are bday #2, #3, and #4
This year the kids tell you how they want to celebrate it.
They wanted a movie party.
They couldn't decide on what movie to play.
At first, they just wanted to watch
Princess Mononoke to scare their friends from school.
Then we realized it would be too violent and scary for
the young kids.
So, they wanted to watch
My Neighbors The Yamadas.
Then they decided to just make it a ghibli movie party
and watch Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Wind
My Neighbors The Yamadas and
Princess Mononoke.

Then a few weeks ago we watched
Brave Storyand the plans changed.
Brave Story after lunch
Princess Mononoke before dinner.
Brave Story was perfect
because it targeted 9 year old kids.
But, the US release was in July.
I was afraid the kids would not be able to follow
because of the japanese language and english subtitles.
But, it could not have gone any better,

In fact, my 4 year old nephew, Ethan
sat quietly for 2 hours, which is very rare.

but, then again,
I told all the kids that we were playing a game
called "Ninja Theatre" and whoever was the best ninja
would win loot bags filled with
bouncy balls, compass rings, kazoos, nerds
and other party favor thingys...
So, before playing Brave Story
I played my favorite pixar short,
One Man Band.

Then Brave Story
So... after,
1 short,
1 feature film,
and 4 bathroom break intermissions,
everyone won loot bags.
The kids will be talking about this party for months!
Toddlers on guitar hero,

Cupcakes

cookies and creme and soot sprite cake with re-lighting candles

and
JodelIf you ever need any birthday party ideas...
I recommend movie theatre birthday parties.
Its a great way
to get a bunch of kids
with sugar pumping through their veins
to settle down.
Just don't forget to throw
playing cards and poker chips on a table
for the friends and family.
